Yvon Bonenfant: Beacons

Free + Open to the PublicThere are singers, vocalists, vocal stylists - but not one of those terms quite fits Yvon Bonenfant. Call him an extended vocalist: He uses his virtuosic range in surprising ways to span and encompass extreme emotion and subtle expression. In Beacons, Bonenfant pairs this instrument with video and flashing lights, in a piece that is winsome and magical. Bonenfant's newest work explores the notion of voice as signal and of light as a means of reaching across a darkness that isolates. Beacons is an homage: to love, to loss, to the act of longing.
