OK, folks, we have a lot of stuff to cover in a short time: first
things first, Trashion Hits Troy! You've heard the myths, the
legends, the vague rumors of good times happening to bad people +
better times happening to great people - well, they are all true.
Here is just a taste of what the night has to offer:

+ 7 pm to 9 pm: silent auction + art work by regional artists, with
live music from Tedsilk + Skadee

+ 9:15 pm to 11 pm: Trashion! featuring...

- Elizabeth Wunderlich (spoken performance piece + assorted awesomeness)
- Discard Avant Garb Reprise with Mary Panza
- Laura from the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company
- back from japan (music for runways)
- lmnopf + mr. ray (video for strutting)

+ the Designer Showcase has...

- Vanderheyden Hall students
- Michael Maello
- Dawna Johnson

plus the PAPER CHALLENGE (oooh...) and more surprises than you can
shake a stick at! All in all, not too shabby of a part one to your
epic evening.

After Trashion screeches to an awesome halt at about 11 pm, your
friends at The Official Unofficial Troy Night Out Afterparty open
those doors to our favorite malcontents + keep it going until the wee
wee hours with...

beats:

thejessestiles3000+ (painfully awkward around cutlery - good with a

detectors)

him a zima)

Like those times when you are reading in bed and realize you've read the first line of that paragraph over and over again.  You can't go on, you'll go on.

More on the musicians:

rise set twilight is the multimedia project of Linda Aubry Bullock and Mike Bullock. Layering analog and digital synthesis, feedback, field recordings and projections, rise set twilight manifests in several ways: in multimedia performance installations; as the dance party unit of DJ orangecookie and VJ Fielder Blank; and as a straight-up noise duo (AKA Barkhausen).

http://risesettwilight.blogspot.com/

Linda Aubry Bullock's earliest memories include being fascinated with the sound of humming transformers, birds, and the distant sound of the television which she references through electronics, keyboards and harp. Linda studied music at Berklee, Boston Conservatory and Bennington and has developed a career in visual arts. In addition to the duo rise set twilight, Linda has a solo project called The Sun is an Orange Cookie (2006 release "My Heart of Sugar" on Chloë Recordings).

As Ambrosia Porcelain, Linda and her mother Miriam create handmade and handpainted porcelain tableware.

About "My Heart of Sugar":

Linda Gale Aubry, who is behind TSiaOC, really knows how to keep things going with a well chosen palette of short electronic patterns, sampled acoustic percussion and field recordings, that she subjects to thoughtful variations and accentuation's…My Heart of Sugar is a delightful release, from the fluid, vaguely house-influenced pulse of "Find a Place Before Dark Falls" to the noisier textures of the final track - cozy music, somewhere between pop-oriented electronica (minus the melodies), laid-back minimal house (minus the bouncing bass) and glitchy ambient (minus the cliché-laden sounds).

Magnus Schaefer, Vital Weekly 552

The Sun Is An Orange Cookie is highly synthetic music, even when perhaps some of it is made through methods of improvisation. It's very upfront stuff that is made with a sort of sense for naivety. Arpeggio synths, minimal samplings…in the end it's thumbs up for this.

Frans de Waard, Vital Weekly 523

Michael T. Bullock is a composer and improviser based in Troy, NY. He has performed in an eleventh century stone chapel, a Czech monastery, and on the side of mountain.

As a solist, in duo with cellist Vic Rawlings, and with electronic duo rise set twilight (with Linda Aubry), Mike has performed across the US and in France and Czech Republic. He has collaborated with Bhob Rainey and Greg Kelley (of nmperign), Mazen Kerbaj, Christian Wolff, Lê Quan Ninh, Daniel Carter, and Theodore Bikel. Mike is a member of the BSC, a large ensemble of improvisers originating in Boston, which has collaborated with musicians and composers from all over the world.

His recordings appear on Grob, Intransitive, CIMP, Emanem, Kissy, Fargone, Rounder and Naxos. In 2002 he founded Chloë, a label dedicated to electro-acoustic music. Mike is a doctoral candidate in the Electronic Arts department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy.

These guys have preferred to go bioless.  When you hear them, you'll know why - the music speaks to itself, as well as for itself.
