LIVE.MEDIA+PERFORMANCE.LAB
August 16—22, 2010

FREE + Open to visitors: Thursday, August 19 + Friday, August 20, 2 - 6 PM

During these two afternoons, visitors are welcome to observe the lab in progress. The workshop participants are an international group of 12 artists and engineers working with media and performance systems at full scale. Come on by!

Directed by Johannes Birringer and Mark Coniglio, this workshop offers intensive training and possibilities for experimentation with mixed reality and real time architectures, programmable environments, interactive design, and the integration of time-based media into live performance and installation.

We are all counting down the hours until the MTAA barn-raising that will be taking place as part of Filament on Friday, October 1, 2010 (the barn-like structure will remain up on campus until October 31, 2010). Those out west, however, will get a first shot at checking out an early version as part of the 2010 01SJ Biennial on September 16-19 in San Jose, CA. Tell them EMPAC sent you!

While our sights are set towards the west: the EMPAC-commissioned 360-degree interactive film There Is Still Time..Brother by The Wooster Group (last seen at the EMPAC opening) will be a part of the TBA Festival 2010 at the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland, OR. Space is limited, so purchase your tickets soon.
