ABOUT FAUST
Faust (German for "Fist") is a band from Germany that first became famous in the '70s, particularly in Britain. They are frequently credited as being one of the two or three most important/influential "Industrial" or "Post-Punk" rock bands of all time (though, at the time, they were categorized as so-called "Krautrock", along with bands like Kraftwerk and Can). And, as it happens, one of the founders, Jean-Herve Peron, lived in Schenectady for a year, running the half-mile for Mont Pleasant High School during the '67/'68 school year!

The bands influences include the Velvet Underground, Zappa and Pink Floyd, as well as the music and theories of serious 20th Century "classical" composers, such as John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

Faust will be touring with original members Jean-Herve Peron and Werner "Zappi" Diermaier, along with James Johnston (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Lydia Lunch) and video artist/painter/musician Geraldine Swayne.

Press

"There is no group more mythical than Faust." â€"Julian Cope

"Faust are essential, not just as a history lesson, but as a living legacy and as a reproach to an underachieving age." â€"Melody Maker

"A radical mix of Musique Concrete, Stockhausen, the Velvet Underground, and moments of almost pastoral beauty." â€"NME

"Faust were first!" â€"Time Out

"Anyone who's loved the last half-decade's re-invention of the guitar, (Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine et al.), will instantly recognize Faust as a prime ancestor of 'our' music." â€"Melody Maker
