[HvEXAS] EMPAC | A swanky new mailing list! | Summer residencies + gearing up for FALL 2009

Dear Friends of EMPAC, As Fall quickly approaches, we are gearing up to bring you even better weekly announcements related to anything and everything EMPAC.  As part of that, we are transitioning to new maillist software brought to you by mailchimp.com who are just amazingly above the board in all aspects.  We want to reiterate your information will never be shared with anyone except things related to EMPAC programs.   The new announcements will still come from the same FROM address (empac_newsevents-l-owner@lists.rpi.edu), so you should not notice any change. However, if you have a super-duper corporate firewall or the like, you may need to ask your IT folk to do some whitelisting - but again, this should be the exception. If you do have problems, you should pass this on to your IT dept: » http://www.mailchimp.com/page/ips/ RESIDENCIES In other news: we at EMPAC have had an extremely busy summer, as artists from around the world occupied EMPAC, availing themselves of the building's unique resources and collaborating with our curatorial and technical staff to test and advance their projects. The residencies varied in duration and scope: Artists were free to focus on specific technical challenges, to fine tune or to experiment, and wholly re-imagine their pieces. The works in development range from a multi-media opera to an experiment in data visualization as the distillation of the Earth's "vital statistics"; from an immersive work combining actual and virtual architecture as a hybrid site for both avatars and human viewers to a series of short theatrical pieces by legendary performance-artist Laurie Anderson. » Read more about summer @ EMPAC.
