This Saturday Night at Daisy Bakers e bring you a very special Lounge at Daisy's featuring Bradford James... A dj since 1987, was brought up thru the golden age of Hip Hop. Bradford a Brooklyn implant by way of Providence & Boston came from a musical family; mother a singer, grandfather a jazz drummer, he played musical instruments thru junior high school till the time he decided to DJ. "As a DJ, Bradford specializes in African rhythms and as a producer, percussive elements from the motherland come to the fore....(weekly dig 2008)". Although soulful house music is his well-known specialty he thinks anything with soul or feeling fits right into his genre-less idealism. In the past two decades Bradford has played many events and held residencies across the US/Cananda including his monthly "Seed In The City" event which is held in Boston, Brooklyn, Los Angeles & Providence. He has also co-produced events with New York City based collectives such as Deepa Grooves, Blak-N-Yello, Herbert Holler, Poly Rhythm, Melting Pot Global, Soul Sun Soul Music & Devotion; in clubs, lofts & outdoor spaces all over the city. Currently he has co-founded "NY Galaktik" membership with (former XM Radio's "The Move" Program Director/Native Chicago event promoter/DJ/Producer) Luis Baro; the Galaktik parties have been some of Brooklyns best underground events the city has seen in years. Host to dj's Phil Asher, Dj Spinna, Tony Humphries, Frankie Feliciano, Audio Soul Project, Chez Damier to name a few. Bradford started Producing music in 1998, his first release in 2001 under the groovekontrol name. He has appeared on cuts produced with some of soulful dance musics heavyweights such as Quentin Harris, Tyrone Francis, Boddhi Satva, Nef Nunez, Oveous Maximus, Trinidadian Deep, Arnold Jarvis, Stephanie Cooke to name a few. To date he has releases and remixes under the names subwaysoul, seed allstarz, bradford james, jesse james project, seed in the city and seedadian deep on some of house musics most respected labels worldwide like Shelter, Future Vision, Shack Music, Seed, Yoruba Records to name a few. Bradford started the Seed (soul enters every dancer) imprint with co-founders Oveous Maximus & Deknology in 1999. Since then has planted a "seed" in the musical community as a respectable new underground independent record label. Seed has over 24 releases under its belt, including releases and remixes from Timmy Regisford, Alton MIller, Boddhi Satva, Oveous Maximus, Tyrone Francis, Jersey Soul, Jay Tripwire and many many others. Seed's catalog has appeared on compilations in Canada, UK & South Africa. The music has been played by heavyweights like Osunlade, Mr V, Louie Vega, Jojo Flores, Tony Humphries, Andy Ward to name a few... All music is available via Itunes, Traxsource, Amazon, emuzic and many other digital outlets. Bradford's support for the underground movement is driven by the community, the music and especially the dancefloor. You hear it in every song he plays! When I first started doing this six years ago, I was recording and extracting video and dvd clips individually. Then I would edit them through Sony Vegas to add artistic effects to them. Once all edited I would combine all of them into one complete movie running between 2 to 3 hours in length. This would then be projected next to or behind a musical act. I am now able to import video content and put it back out in real time allowing the video to appear to be in synch for a unique visual experience. I am also able to project on almost any type of surface allowing no limtations. I enjoy creating an atmosphere that you will remember for a long time." -Drew Suto Joining them will be your residents Lazer & Blazer; Lazer and Blazer are a team forged in the bowels of good music. They (Adam Littleboy & George Washburn respectively) have been friends for almost 15 years but only began djing together as Lazer and Blazer about three years ago. Separately they had been djing bedrooms and clubs for a few years prior. They quickly found that they made a good team, and the sound that they sought to bring to the area was a unique one. Locally, it seemed as though people started to agree and they began to get booked at various communions and bar mitzvahs. This ended up being such a good time that in 2009 they decided it was time to start throwing regular events in the Capital District. That's when they teamed up with Properly Chilled and together, began putting on nights as a DJ collective called Select Rhythms, keeping rugs cut ever since at places like Quintessence and Daisy Baker's. Their sound can simply be described as eclectic, and depending on the mood of the crowd it will vary, but always be prepared for lots of the boogie. In December 2010 Properly Chilled rode off on a unicorn to be seen from and heard from again, and now Lazer and Blazer are free to begin their lifelong dream of starting a freestyle polka company. Help spread the word so we can keep our Troy dance nights alive. Saturday April 16th 9pm to 2:30am There is a $5 dollar cover. Ages 18+ |
